In this room we will discuss the role of legislation and of the justice system in the prevention and elimination of child labour and its worst forms. We will address the challenges generated by diverse concepts of what constitutes child labour (e.g. minimum ages and definition of hazardous work) in different countries, and the role the international community can play in advancing the existing national and international legal framework.
Based on the regulatory experience of different States and the actual operational experience of the national justice system and its social impact, we propose a debate on the strategies needed to encourage and strengthen the role of the justice system to accelerate the elimination of the worst forms of child labour.
